Good day Sisters and brothers, January 2023

I want to thank you all for standing strong throughout the pandemic period as 2022 brought us back to some normality. The year seemed to pass so fast with the Club returning to many of activities and new ones on the horizon. We had many members who did not return after the pandemic, and it is nice to welcome new workers into our local unit. We had an election to the bargaining committee welcoming Murthy, who brought a voice to the committee from the Kitchen. Rey continues to voice his expertise from the Maintenance and Club house areas. We began bargaining in mid July with the opening of proposals from you the members, this process helped and guided us throughout these sets of negotiations. The Club had four management personnel at the table and each block of times we met with them one by one management not only left the table but also the Club. This did not deter us on making significant gains. We now have a new Collective Agreement in which we have stronger language to support our membership and wage increases. We still have work to do, this was evident on the voting of not one but two ratifications. We will continue to hold the employers’ feet to the fire and work with everyone to ensure our rights are upheld. I want to wish you all a New Year and look forward continuing our fight for justice and fairness within our unit, local and community.
